This Toshiba 500 GB works great, just simply put the USB in and it will ask if you would like to install. you have the option of how you would like to install the external drive,from a back up drive or just extra memory or both. the drive is also thin, light, and small. which makes it great for carring it around for trips or business. its also fair price then most other drives. so if you looking for a good portable external hard drive i recommed this one.

I had to return mine because it had bad sectors. I attempted to fix it using CHKDSK, but failed. I do not recommend buying this. Get a WD instead. I got just that for replacement though not from Amazon.
I also checked Toshiba warranty but the site could not recognize the serial number. It's possible that the warranty is not valid.
I would give it zero star but that's not possible.
Not satisfied with the product but I am happy with Amazon because I managed to return this for a full refund.

I purchased the drive exactly four months ago. It has begun making squeaking and grinding noises. Upon going to the toshiba site to check the warranty, it says it is expired. This site lists it as having a 3 year warranty. This has not been resolved yet and I am just waiting for the stupid thing to die and lose all the data not saved since my last backup....
