 Love Our New Printer! July 28, 2010

Love my new PIXMA printer! I bought it for my home office, where I predominantly need to scan and email documents, and make copies of receipts to include with invoices. The printer is awesome for that. It doesn't take up too much space on a desktop or file cabinet, and looks really sharp. It's very quiet, and the features are easy to use. My husband set it up for me, and he didn't spend too much time on it, which is really great, since I didn't want it to be a huge chore. We don't use the wireless feature, and have instead networked it across our home office. I print wirelessly, but not through the wifi, if that makes sense. Printing is fast, and I LOVE THE AUTO-DUPLEXING! The print quality is good, and colors come out fairly close to true (great considering it's an inkjet and not a color laser). Overall, I love it and especially at this price on Amazon. Shipping from Amazon.com was perfect, and we got it right on time, with no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended!

I was looking for an economical, high quality printer and this one filled the bill for me. It was easy to set-up and connectivity and wireless was not a problem. Duplex printing is efficent and carefree. I would recommend it to a family member or friend. I have no complaints after over a month.

I am not one to usually leave feed back but I was so imressed with the quality build of the machine, the features especially fax, cheap ink cartridges and print quality i had to leave a feed back. Buy it you will not regret it!
 Very poor black printing July 25, 2010

I have had no problems setting the MX870 up wirelessly on a MAC and it prints and scans from MAC, Windows Laptop and even prints photos form IPhone with 4.01 OS.
The disappointment is that is has the worst black text printing I have seen in a inkjet in the last 15 years. I had two brother printers before this Canon and the black text was laser like, good enough for resumés and similar important documents. The MX870 bleeds even at 12 font and will not provide a high quality standard print output. The output is sufficient for homework and general print work though but very disappointing for a unit of this size and price.
I would not recommend this unit.

I bought this printer from amazon, hooked it up wirelessly to our 2 home desktops and 1 laptop in no time flat. The setup was maybe an hour for all of it. We have 1 PC and 2 macs and the setup was equally easy for all 3. There is a CD and a booklet that walks you through it.
It prints beautifully!
I've used it for scanning documents and photos and I can't believe the scan quality. Amazing. The software that allows you to manipulate the document is also really easy to use.
I used it as a color copier to photocopy a part of a map and my husband couldn't tell it was a copy!
I haven't used the printer as a fax and probably won't, so I can't speak to that.
I think it prints a little slow, as in the time it takes to print out from the when the document is sent seems like a long time.
I've already replaced the print cartridges and that was very simple as well, a child could do it.
I am very happy with this purchase considering the amazon price, free shipping and front door delivery. We love it!
